If I didn't already have them, I would put a set of Slidelock Rulers on my list. I use both sizes all the time when cutting fabric. Aside from holding the fabric in place, I feel safer using them because my left hand is away from my rotary cutter blad.

Edit: Mine are the lighted edge; figure it helps me see the edge better. I rarely use the ruler, though.
