I suggest just augment the meander that you are comfortable with by adding loops and leaves shaped like hearts. It's easy. Practice a little on paper first. SID on longarm is time consuming and I don't suggest it for your rental period. If the quilt is stabilized with other quilting it might be easier to add some SID when you are home with your DSM. I would use a white thread and work in the background to start adding leaves and loops into the colored portions as you get more confident. see sample sketch below.
