I don't know what you are thinking of. But this machine uses only a bobbin thread, no top thread at all. The needle brings up a loop of thread and makes a stitch with it. The stitch looks like one length of thread, not two, but since the thread is doubled, a 40 wt. thread looks like a 20 wt., almost. Then there is an arm next to the needle that reaches over and catches the loop of thread to pull it aside so the next stitch is skipped. Then it repeats all over. There's also an arm down inside the bobbin area that catches the thread and pulls it to the side, I think to keep the tension correct on the stitch that is made. This machine is so totally unlike anything else you have ever used. It's really amazing.
