I like my privacy at the end of a busy day filled with socializing, but I could probably do the shared room thing for a week and really enjoy getting to know other quilters. However, I have RA and roll back and forth finding a comfortable position All. Night. Long. It would undoubtedly bother my roomies, so I would opt for my own room, too.
My DH is a saint. He is just the right size and shape to support my shoulder position when we spoon.......if I fall deeply asleep for very long his whole one side will be numb from holding still! I have offered to set him up in an adjoining room and he won't hear of it.
He woo'ed me with pots of hot, strong coffee and brings me a cup every morning. I'd keep him for that alone!
