I take 2 or 3 stitches across the corner rather than stitching right up to the corner and then down the other side. It's easier to get a non-bulky corner without trimming your seam allowances down to almost nothing.
Taking 2 or 3 stitches on the bias across the corner is a really good way to turn lots of corners that have bulk in them, like pot holders and even pillow cases.
And I really like the trimmed seam allowances at the corners, too. That makes sense.
