Haha.....but.....in the feathered star that I made with an octogon in the center ( I posted the pic above)-the octogon is just a square with snowballed corners. Hmmmm....As I research FS’s, it seems that there are many variations. I have some books by Marsha McCloskey on order from our library. I am in love with these blocks! I made a paper pieced FS using this free tutorial...

Its a great tut, and I have since purchased more of her patterns. She is just starting a quilt along with feathered stars.
