The mill had a modern machine, computerised, which cleaned the cotton as well. It replaced about 40 women who were reassigned to sewing areas. But further into the tour we came across this area where there were several women picking through the cotton. This particular mill pays more than their competitors as they want to retain their workers. The mill includes housing, school and mosque and security for their workers and their families. They produce their own electricity and even grow some of their own fruit and vegetables. When I came across this scene it just seemed so out of place in comparison to the rest of the mill.
