I think one of the reasons that the circle design does not show up very well on the example picture that Jane posted is because of the neutral corners. In this day and age (especially with Bonnie Hunter's definition of 'neutral'), neutral can mean different things to different quilters. Jane's picture indicates a very modern approach to neutral for the choice of fabric for the corner pieces of the blocks. If you change the neutral corners to a fabric that is very pale and does not draw attention to itself, like for example, solid white fabric, then you will see the circle pattern emerge more readily. I came across this picture today, and thought I would show what a difference it makes when the corners are all white for all the blocks!
