I use a table, clamps, and tape and have good success even on larger quilts. If the quilt is smaller than the table, I do baste extensions on the top and bottom so it reaches the table edge and tape the sides. Smooth the batting and top and pin or use Elmer's school glue. I like the Elmer's with larger quilts. I glue the batting to the backing and let it dry. Then, I add glue to the top of the batting and put in place. I use table clamps and work in sections. Makes for a great sandwich and easy to handle.
