Aren't backpacks inconvenient when you need to get something out of it? Also, isn't it easy pickin's for a thief? There's your stuff behind you! All they've got to do is unzip it. I'd think a cross-body bag with the contents under your arm a lot safer and handier for retrieving things you need.
If you have poor shoulder mobility, I would think a backpack is not the best bag for you... as they do take good mobility to get on and off. Also, those with back pockets, against your back, are safer for your valuable cards and cash than those with access on the front.
