terriamn, The same thing happened with my dog. When he was a puppy my husband hung a bell by the back door. We made Maxie ring the bell with his paw, we opened the door, waited until he did his business, then praised him a lot and gave him a treat. In less than a week, the smart little puppy realized if he rang the bell, we would go outdoors to play and give him a treat. lol Needless to say, we quickly tired of hearing the ringing bell, and removed it.
