I pulled out a UFO applique project that was started a few years ago. Looking at it, I have to change up how it needs to be done because I have no placement sheet for the applique pieces. Hence why I think I put it away, 1/4" bias tape for the stems and very little experience doing that. I will muddle thru it because I love the pattern and I have four of the nine blocks done. Reminder, leave yourself instructions in a project so you know where you left off. I did finish the blocks for a current project, have the other current project ready to assemble blocks, then the other current project's blocks are nearly all assembled and ready to finish the top. Why three new projects all at once you ask? Well..... One is for a store sample I was asked to do because I bought the new line of Java Batiks and they don't have a sample with them and convinced me I needed to do this (push over aren't I) #2 is because I needed to do a test block with the pattern instructions before I cut up store fabric which was in fat quarters and the instructions say a jelly roll. Would not recommend pattern instruction with a jelly roll unless you like wasting fabric or making lots of tiny hst blocks, then the trimming, etc., no fun. #3 is because I volunteered to help with the quilt group raffle quilt. Now really, this was totally stupid of me, but I could not explain to my helpers that it is so much easier to use the accuquilt for the cutting instead of doing it by 4 7/8" squares. Less waste and time spent trimming and more accurate. Well, I cut a whole queen size quilt in an hour and 15 minutes, have the pieces sewn together and the blocks nearly done and it has been less than a week. What was I thinking? At least I like the fabric and will use it in my spare room or may give to my parents for a wedding anniversary. It is the Ribbon Star quilt pattern, not Jenny Doan, and it uses the friendship star with hst in corners. When I get done with it, will post a photo. To bad not a UFO, but so simple and goes together easily. So when I take it to group all done, they may all get on board and say lets do this.
Enough of my rant. Back to work. (Wish it was quilting)
