I have Brother with auto thread cutter. It would unthread the needle too. The repair guy fixed it, said it was leaving too short a thread length for the top thread so it came threaded. Oh forgot, the Brother repairman said there was no way to change it, wanted to put in a new one. The man who did was a jack of all brands.
I don't think that's true it is something that is done because I have it happen once in a while but not all the time so I have to believe it is something I am doing since it doesn't happen regularly
