Mine isn't perfect either but it's mine. I did do the HST first and I thought it would be easier and I think it was. Mine came out to 13 1/2" blocks.

I am almost done with mine. I had to square up the blocks as they were a bit wonky. Then everything did not line up perfectly. grrrrrrrrrr But the overall look is great. It is for a Veteran donation quilt and they know nothing about points etc. Thank goodness the charms were not directional.
If I were to make it again I would cut my own charms and make the HST corner sections before sewing everything together.
