The shorter end (as you call it) is the 10 degree end. Check the template with a protractor. Narrow (shorter) end should measure 10 degrees. This is the Only measurement you really need. The "legs" of the wedge can be any length and Will get wider as they move out from the 10 degrees. Use the template, it will make your life easier, but first check to make sure the 10 degree measurement is actually 10 degrees.
