I would keep the cabinet and cradle. They make it nice to sew on and aren't that easy to get. We have a bunch of
301 machines. Both in cabinet and in cases. They are our favorite lightweight machine. The slant
needle is nice and since they are direct gear drive they are way more powerful than a 221 Featherweight.
You can still get every type of foot for the slant foot machines. We have 1/4quilting, stitch in the ditch, zipper,
walking, and roller feet. You can also still get zigzag and button hole attachments and they work fine.
There are lots of small suitcases that will work with a 301 for a case.
I would get a second machine for use outside of the cabinet. They are easy to find and not as expensive as
a featherweight.
