9-Patch can come in equal or unequal styles. The equal 9-patch is the most common with 9 equal squares. The unequal 9-patch can be hard to see - like this one. As someone has already said, if the block can be divided into 3 across and 3 down it’s a 9-patch. Way back in the dinosaur days we learned how to look at quilt block to determine how to draw templates for that block. Jimmy Beyer has a wonderful book on quilt,blocks - my,original one came with clear overlays of all the various types of blocks. The second version is in color (big yes!!) but I’m out of town and just don’t remember if it came with The overlay - I would think it did though. I’m glad I started quilting in 1979 when we learned so much more than is taught todaymin beginner classes.
