I watched a video on youtube (wish I could remember the name)...but the woman used 1/2" seams to piece her backing. Her theory was that the wider seam had less chance of rolling, and made a much easier transition when quilting the quilt. I tried it, and liked it very much. Instead of being able to feel the "bump"...you can barely notice at all when quilting it, and when done.
