When my husband first started dialysis, I was told I might want to furnish him with a blanket of some sort. I had several crocheted afghans on hand, but none of them seemed quite right. I also had a fleece throw that I had made, two layers of fleece, and tied fringe around the whole exterior. (remember back in the day!) He loved it. I did make a quilted throw, but he preferred the fleece. Warm, and very washable. He used it for five and a half years while on treatment. If you are in a hurry, you might want to consider that, unless your father would prefer a quilt that you made especially for him. Best wished to you dad.
