Default Canít replace the foot holder on Janome 7700

Iíve been using the dual feed foot on my 7700 for quite a while, and yesterday took it off (which seemed rather fiddly, but I did manage it) and went to put the foot holder back on. But thereís no way the screw that holds it in place will go back, between the presser bar and the metal looped bar to the left of it (sorry, donít know the name of the latter). The space between the two just isnít big enough to be able to get the screw into position. Iím wondering if one of the bars has got bent out of place, though they both look straight. However, I did have a nasty moment while sewing recently when the needle hit the plate.

Before I lug this heavy machine to the repairerís, I just want to make sure that Iím not forgetting something very obvious when replacing the foot holder. Itís a while since I used the machine much, and I have a terrible memory for these things - though Iíve not found anything in the manual to help me.
