If it is your first, start easy. And I think one of the easiest is a diagonal pattern. I personally do not care for a tight pattern and would do my lines as far apart as the batting will allow (i like to do 5" or 6" apart). Start from center, work outward, turn around and do other side, then flip and do the other diagonals. It will go fairly quickly and you should not get overwhelmed. Remember, it is your first, it will not be perfect and you will become more confident and comfortable with practice!
