I used a white bed sheet cut into 8 inch squares. Used a rotary cutter to cut across the ties, opened them up, then ironed, making "strips" of material. One strip placed face up on the white square with a little longer strip on top of it facing down. Ran a stitch on the right side, opened it up and ironed flat. Turned the square and put a slightly larger strip face down over the first two, ran a stitch on the right...kept repeating the process until the white square was covered with tie material. Trimmed any overlapping material on the sides to make the square "square". I pinned the squares to sew into rows, then pinned and sewed the rows to complete the quilt top. I did most of this at night when I couldn't sleep. Found it very relaxing making the quilts.
