Default Wedding Ring lap robe

I got a free pattern off the internet at some point that had me doing the rings in EPP. Once you got them all sewn together, you sew this to the background fabric. The pattern seemed almost microscopic, so I enlarged the pattern. It went from being a table runner, to a lap quilt. This project started as I was going through quilting withdrawals while my sewing machine was being serviced. My DH suggested the Dresden posies and I came up with the rest. I found a morning glory design that reminded me of the home we used to have where I planted morning glories all along our front steps. I put two of them in the center of each ring & mixed my paints to come up with something that would look realistic, made a rounded V template to put in the corners that flute back so far, for added interest & added pebbling. Then after everything was detailed, I did a small stipple design around the outside with my blue variegated Aurifil thread. I love the way it came out! What I got from this project was even if something doesn't come out quite as planned, get creative & make it useful anyway! :-)
