I realize this is an old thread, but since I found it I thought others might wander here later as well. I could not get a phillips screwdriver to work to remove the side panel. I did some more googling, and found that the screw needs a #25 torx tool (that's a star shaped head vs phillips or flat head). I didn't have one of those handy either, but we do have a set of hex keys. I found one that fit, and had to use a pair of pliers (gently, but it gave me more torque) to get the screw loose - it was locked in pretty tight. Then voila, the panel comes off and the bulb is very easy to put in with your hands (no special bulb tool needed if you get the side panel off). The little screw doesn't come out completely, it just needs to be loosened to get the panel off. Hope this helps if someone else lands here. I love my Pfaff 7570 and need to keep it running :-)
