Mine were given to nursing home, so I didn't get to see responses. ai think velcro might work if you stitched the 'grabby' part down and attached just one end of the softer side--so they can clost andopenor put on a flap so it can be opened and closed. I find that a size fits the lap (12-15") is a good size and flannel backing keeps from falling off. All kinds of different textured fabrics for ''feel'', zippers, buttonholes and strongly attached buttons.
