I made a template out of plastic, glue stick dots to back of fabric. Take paint brush in saucer of starch, paint edge of fabric then fold it over template. Place applique pressing sheet on top and use iron to set the edge. Take out the template and machine applique it. I did this with about 50 shapes for a Jacobean block ( only I used parchment paper on top)
