I love this article. Especially since I live in Oregon. I didn't learn to quilt until I was almost 70 years old. I started making them for a home that lets homeless sleep on the enclosed porch. I found that I can't read patterns so I make up my own as I go along. I do use simple patterns for a block, just not the entire quilt. I always have them going backwards or upside down, so I do QAYG on my domestic machine. I have made about 100 now. Some King for family, some Queen, and for the homeless I made Twin size, all long enough to cover from feet to shoulders, around 80-90 inches long.
