I am also overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and other quilting stuff I have. I was planning on moving and packed up my sewing room and now have postponed the move. While I am leaving a lot of things packed, I am unpacking my sewing stuff and going to do a major purge - just too much. A friend of mine does not have a stash at all. She buys fabric as she decides on the quilt she is going to make.
So, what have I learned? While a stash is good, I need a much smaller one so I can buy fabric specific for a quilt and not try to find something in my stash. In the long run it will be cheaper as I won't keep having to purge fabric I no longer want or like.
