illinois- I punched the 'heart' design in on my computer and didn't love it, so I skipped it as an option. I LOVE the patterned fabric, but I'm not sure I've got enough to use it as a border, whereas I know I've got enough of the other two to work with. If I'm not sold on the blue once I get it cut, I'll turn the strips into my binding and go buy some mauve or more of the pattern, assuming I can find it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Another choice that I didn't find is to make the steps go down on the left but back up on the right. Sort of a "heart" design. Border? At first I didn't see the blue as it's pretty light but the pink next to the pink of the steps is a bit much. It may look different in real time. Have you tried the pattern fabric as the border? Do you have a bit of the darker mauve that's in the patterned fabric?
