Adhesive remover is acetone - the same chemical in nail polish remover. The remover tends to be oily, so be careful how you use it. Acetone can dissolve some fabrics (mainly polys), so if you decide to try it, try first in a small hidden area.

Have you tried ice cubes for "freezing" the glue, then scraping it off with a credit card edge? I've heard that can work.
