Each frame side should be 2.5 inches. 2.5 + 8.5 = 10.5 (in quilt math) 10.5 + 2.5 = 12.5 when you add and subtract seam allowance.

Ok. Working on Stafar’s block today and trying to figure out what size to cut the frame fabric. I made the blue block 8 1/2 inches so thought my frame would need to be 4 1/2 inches but that is way to big so I cut it in half, thinking each side should be 2 1/4?
