top, flat surface of a king is 76x80. If you want to be covered by the quilt you absolutely want it bigger.
As others have pointed out, the best size for you depends on several factors. Is your mattress a pillowtop? How much overhang do you want it to have?
My king quilt is 118" x 118" and it's almost too small, but that was about the largest my longarmer could handle.
