Default Scrappy batik mountains

Years ago I made Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties, and she cut her starting blocks at 8.5" then trimmed to 8". For a charity I had to add borders, as the 8" blocks didn't fit our constraints on size.

Then I saw a MSQC, and Jenny's version is called Grand Adventure. She used a layer cake, 10" blocks, which would make my blocks too big, so I blithely started cutting 9" squares with enough to make 4 full rows. got those little strips cut and all ready to sew together, and then it was put away in a box, until the other day when I just wanted something to finish and empty one of those little boxes.

And when I was ready to sew them together, the width was perfect, but 3 rows ended up being 48" so just added a top and bottom border to come out to 52" Phew! How bad am I am math? Now you know! Those two rows will end up in my next "orphan block" quilt.
