I make string quilts out of my scraps a lot. I use old telephone book paper for the base. I always put a 1 to 1/2" white strip in the middle and use my scraps out from there. Using the white (or any color) strip in the center makes a design-within-a-design. I will attach a string quilt that I did recently. They are easy to do. I'm always ready to be finished, though. It's a great way to use up every bit of your scraps.
