Square quilts are probably my most commonly made size, no matter how big/large.
They provide lots of options for their usage.
Unless it is a directional design, it also leaves you with no fears as to which way is up or sideways.
For a bed quilt, a square works best for me, to allow for drop on the sides, and pillow tuck at the top.
For a lap size, it leaves cuddle room, if a 2nd person is with you ... or on point, works for a taller person.
Do what you think works best for you ... and the person you are giving it to.
