All I have is a regular sewing machine that's about 30 years old. Mine doesn't have any stitch regulators like many of the newer machines have now. I do think you should practice drawing on paper first, to get your brain wrapped around the motions you need to make, before fmq. Just drop your feed dogs and go on a practice sandwich first before fmq on a quilt top.
