D9P is a great generic pattern that makes incorporating interests easy. You may even be able to include all the interests... I usually use the focus fabric(s) for the outer 4 corners, One color for all the centers, and coordinating solids or near solids for the other 4 squares... This allows the 4 corners, which are uncut to shine.
