I make these bags for my DD all the time. I use hen scratch bags, sheep feed bags, & bird seed bags & use this tutorial for my pattern:

They are very durable --- industrial strength--- & will last a long, long time. I use the webbing for my straps but you can use the left over bag pieces for straps if you don't want to buy webbing.
