i made a throw of hex's but did them individually. then hand stitched them together. i hate Y seams!!
i'm making hexagon coasters now. same way.
i cut 4 inch fabric and batting, then 6 inch fabric for backing.
lay on top of each other, fold the backing over one inch, and another inch on one edge. pin. then fold next edge, pin, etc.
then stitch by machine with zig zag stitch or blanket stitch. or do them by hand. you quilt each one individually if necessary. I did that for the throw since those were 6 inch hexagons.
