Default Recent inspiration ...

We have a ceiling-challenged (I can barely even sit up in it) loft in a park mode RV at a vacation spot. We sleep up there occasionally when we have guest in the bedroom, and our grandchildren play and sleep up there. Recently I decided I'd like to leave the sleeping mats out and have them made up for sleeping rather than folding them up. Of course that led to the idea of having right-sized quilts on them. The mats are 24x74, so I will make the quilts about 7" larger all the way around.

In further brainstorming and checking my stash, I remembered purchasing a really cute fabric panel some time ago:

After dragging it out, I discovered that I had given the surfboard square to a friend, so I had 5 pictures to work with. Well, that would be fine for one quilt, but I need two, so I ordered one more panel.

Then I decided I needed two more blocks the same size, so I ordered fabric for those:

I also discovered a batik layer cake that I've had for quite some time, and the colors will coordinate very nicely with the Elizabeth's Studio fabrics to fill in between the panel squares.

Pencil and paper (no EQ) led to working out the design to fit the size I need, and I decided to use this fabric for borders:

I haven't decided on backing (maybe flip-flops) and binding yet, but I'm getting really excited about this project.

I will also want to make fitted mattress pads and sheets to fit these mats, but I'm not so excited about doing that. I may get some at a thrift store that I can remake to fit.

Okay, that's my plan. It feels good to find a use for part of my stash, but it still involves purchasing quite a bit more fabric for this project; as one thing leads to another …
