QuiltE: First let me say a big Thank You to you for posting your beautiful piece. I have owned this pattern for over a year and have been daunted by the size and the struggle to find just the perfect fabrics. Like you I want a piece that can stay up longer than just Christmas. I love how you used a lighter fabric for the background, inspiration #1; reducing the size #2, color choices and placement #3.
