I have stainless appliances and a black top electric stove. For spills etc on the stove top, I let them soak under a wet dish cloth, wipe up the mess (occassionally scrape w a knife blade), and wipe clean with Chlorox wipes. I've found Chlorox wipes also do the best job on the stainless appliances. It cuts the grease and dirt and leaves them shiny clean (no streaks).
