Default Silesian ruler foot

Does anyone on here use a Silesian ruler foot? I recently bought this foot with a couple of their rulers and discovered that the foot is slightly wider than 1/2". I now hear that it is known within the 'ruler community'.

The problem is that this puts the needle just a little more than the usual 1/4" away from the ruler. The guide marks on the ruler are all a perfect 1/4" apart so if I use them as a reference, my stitching is slightly more than 1/4" away from the edge of the ruler.

#for example, if I intended to sew parallel lines, 1" apart to fill a 6" block, the measurement after the final line of stitches to the edge of the block would be less than the others, looking very odd.

I do intend to contact the company, but wonder if anyone else has come across this. Is there a simple way for compensating for this or will I always have to remember to shift the reference lines on the ruler?
