My confession: if it can be hung close to my hands on a wall or a similar area, it is; if it needs to be close to my hand but in a container, I find a container that can be attached to a wall/ledge/desk top/etc. and the item goes into the container and the two of them are happily married and attached where I will not be propelling them all over my sewing room.
In my sewing room, Command hooks and Command picture/poster hangers rule.
The hooks utility is kinds obvious; but, ahh the possibilities with the hangers!
