That star on the tip that you see is a button, so I threaded a needle with heavy waxed thread and ran it through the tip of one of the stars and then both ends back through the button, so you couldn't see the thread. Then I added the crystals and put a crimp on the thread so the crystals won't fall off. I left long tails so she can decide how she wants to hang them and at what height. This one is big, for hanging in a window. I couldn't imagine doing them as tiny tree decorations. They would take forever.
I was wondering about using them as the centre of a table runner. Whether I could satin stitch around it and give it some 3-d effect, but I think you'd have to do them with extremely light fuseable for that.
