I made a couple Friday night with 4.5" because that was the size of my scraps. They turned out okay. Will I do more, I doubt it. I generally don't do this type of sewing and I'd rather spend my time piecing.
(Nothing against the process, just my type of sewing likes)

lindalou, HD paper backed fusibles are made for no sew projects and will gum up your needle. The Lite version is designed to be sew through.
