I decided I wanted a machine for each type of attachment sets I could get - and that is what got me firmly sliding down the slope of machine acquisitions!

As to the issues with converting slant to short, since the needle is also at the angle, I think if you tried to put some sort of adaptor on the slant bar, it may end up being in the way of the needle bar. Put a short shank lined up with the needle hole and cycle the needle to see if there is clearance.
