I did misunderstand your first post on doing this as a strip set. I was thinking you wanted to make 3 1/2" strip sets and sub cut them to 6 1/2. Doing it the other way will work but I can tell you that a strip set of 6" strips with 5 or 6 strips could get unwieldy when you go to sub cut them down. But the pattern is very forgiving so you shouldn't have too much trouble.
