Just because a person is a Judge does not mean they cannot appreciate a quilt without critiquing it. :-) I will admit that I do look closer than I did before I became a Judge and I think that is normal. However, I do not look for fault, I am looking at the good things and appreciating the work and the amount of time that has gone into the piece.
Do not be afraid of the Judge and what you "think" she/he "might be thinking". You would probably be wrong. :-) Also, it could be to your advantage to "take advantage" of the Judges knowledge when you have a chance. I encourage everyone to go to "Open Judging". It is a great opportunity to see and hear what is said about the quilt. Also, at the end of the judging, you have the opportunity to ask questions of the Judge. (Why and how, etc. etc.). We are not
r-e-a-l-l-y the "Quilt Police"! :-). (I have a different thought who they are.....hahaha)
thanks for that take on judging
