I don't think it is a big deal anymore. 'Older' folks still tend to buy pink for baby girls and blue for baby boys, but I think most folks now tend to think more about what the parents color preferences are. I always liked to use bright primary colors for baby items - suits everyone! When I make a quilt top for a male friend, I tend to think about what color his car is and what colors most of his wardrobe is - best clues out there!
